Rene Burri

雷内·布里于1933年出生在瑞士苏黎世。他回忆起那个时期,觉得那是一个威胁般的狭隘时代,这种感觉并非源于政治气候,而是来自于遮挡他视野的瑞士山脉,这些山脉让他无法看到世界的广阔。1949年,他进入了苏黎世应用艺术学院(Zürcher Kunstgewerbeschule)的摄影课程,在这里受到了汉斯·芬斯勒等导师的影响。

1955年,雷内·布里在比肖夫的邀请下进入玛格南图片社,他的首个图片报道便获得了全球性关注——发布于《Life》杂志的聋哑儿童专题《Touch of Music for the Deaf》。1956年,布里开始其贯穿欧洲、中东的旅行,并在拉丁美洲完成了关于牧羊人的报道。1959年正式成为玛格南成员后,布里着手完成自己的第一本摄影画册——《Die Deutschen》,同年在古巴拍下了著名的切·格瓦拉叼着雪茄的照片。布里还参与了1965年Magnum Films的创建,并在中国拍摄六个月,为BBC完成纪实片《The Two Faces of China》。除了摄影外,布里还积极活跃于绘画等艺术领域。

1998年,布里获博士学位,并得到了由德国摄影协会颁发的埃里系·所罗门奖,1999年获苏黎世文化奖;2006年,布里被英国皇家摄影学会授予荣誉院士,这荣誉是颁发给在科学和摄影美术方面有自己独特的立场和造诣的学者。

尽管布里见证了政治和历史进程,但他从未用简单的新闻摄影的方式来思考问题。从一开始,他就凭借着自己训练有素的艺术家的目光,从我们这个世界所发生的事件中发现强烈的隐喻。由于具备了这个品质,加上他的深沉的人文主义情感,因此他的作品具备一种高度的文化和艺术的价值,从而成为了所谓“世界摄影”的一部分。于他而言,从生活里汲取创作素材,描绘理想以及乌托邦潜在的缺点,总比描绘毁灭和混乱,更能丰富他的灵感。
